ScanFolio Support

Updated: 7 October 2026

For help with ScanFolio, email appdev@i3hk.net. Tell us what happened and, if possible, include your device model and iOS version. Please avoid sending passport details, boarding-pass codes, or other sensitive scan content.

Basic and Plus

Basic includes live barcode scanning, raw results, opening link results with GO, and creating a basic QR preview from text. Plus unlocks live MRZ recognition, text recognition after Capture or photo import, other generation formats and settings, Save to Photos, saving to History, encrypted iCloud sync, sharing and parsed travel-document details.

An active Plus subscription is required to access History. If Plus expires, saved scans are retained, but History stays locked until Plus is active again.

Common questions

Why did a live result disappear? Live barcode and MRZ results clear automatically 30 seconds after their last detection. Keeping the code or MRZ in view refreshes that time. Captured-frame and imported-photo results do not use this timer. Save results you want to keep to History with Plus.

What happens when I tap GO? For web links, ScanFolio looks for warning signs and possible redirects before opening. When something needs your attention—or a check cannot finish—you see a clear explanation and choose Cancel or Open anyway. Some link types cannot open. These warnings are included in Basic. Plus saves your selected Scan result to History first; cancelling does not undo that save. If saving fails, you will be told.

Why am I seeing a redirect warning? The scanned link may lead somewhere else. Review Scanned link and Maybe redirect to before deciding whether to continue.

Can I open links to other apps? Compatible app links open through iOS and require an installed app that supports them. Web-link warnings do not apply to these links.

Does a completed check guarantee safety? No. Link warnings help you make a more informed choice; they cannot identify every threat or guarantee the final destination. Only open links you trust.

The camera is unavailable. Camera scanning requires a supported device with a camera; the iOS simulator has no live camera feed. On your device, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and make sure ScanFolio has permission to use the camera.

A code or document is not recognized. Try better lighting, hold the camera steady, reduce glare, or use a clearer photo. Results depend on image quality and device support. ScanFolio reads information; it does not confirm that a document or ticket is valid.

My saved scans are missing on another device. Check that Plus is active and unlock History on both devices. Make sure both devices use the same Apple account and have iCloud and iCloud Keychain enabled. Sync may take time. Open History and pull down to refresh. A scan cannot be shown on the other device until its encryption key has synced.

How do I search saved scans? With Plus, unlock History and use the native iOS search field to enter part of the scanned text. Search ignores letter case and accents and covers readable records already imported to this device, including older pages. Encrypted placeholders cannot match until their keys arrive. Clear the search field to return to the full list.

Why does the first History search take longer? Search starts after a brief pause in typing. The first search loads the remaining local scan details in the background; changing the search text continues that work instead of starting over. Later searches reuse the loaded details until you refresh, save or delete a record, synced details change, keys arrive, or History locks. Searches do not download every saved photo.

How do I see more results or retry a failed load? History and search results load in pages of 100. Scroll to the end to load more; if needed, tap Load more scans. When loading fails, an explanation and Retry loading appear. Tap Retry loading to retry the same page; the app does not keep retrying failed pages automatically. You can also pull down to refresh History.

How do I delete a scan? In History, swipe left on the scan and tap Delete. You can also open it and tap Delete scan. If iCloud sync is active, the deletion will reach your other devices after they sync.

How do I delete all scans? Clear any History search, tap Delete all scans, and confirm. This deletes all records currently in the local History database, including encrypted placeholders and records beyond the displayed 100-item page. Records not yet imported from iCloud are outside that deletion. Separately saved Photos images and copies shared outside the app are not removed.

An older saved image is missing. Scroll to its History list row or open its detail to download the image automatically when available, regardless of age. If needed, tap Download photo from iCloud in detail to retry. iCloud must be available.

History will not unlock. History uses iOS device-owner authentication: Face ID, Touch ID where available, or your device passcode. Make sure a device passcode is configured, then try unlocking again. History locks when the app enters the background.

How do I save a generated image? With Plus, generate a valid code, then tap Save to Photos and allow photo-library additions. ScanFolio saves the generated PNG; it does not need access to your entire photo library for this action.

A generated code is not accepted by a reader. Check the input and chosen format, keep the white border visible, and try a larger display size. Some formats and settings need a compatible reader; Code 39 Full ASCII needs matching reader configuration. A generated code does not assign a retail product number, issue a ticket, or verify the encoded information.

Can ScanFolio read a passport chip or validate a boarding pass? NFC/ePassport chip reading is unavailable. MRZ check digits and boarding-pass field parsing are local checks; they do not establish authenticity, identity or ticket validity.

My ScanFolio Plus subscription is not showing. Open the Plus screen and tap Restore purchases. To change or cancel your subscription, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device.
